JNet's Mission Statement
Every year, thousands of Jews drift away from their heritage simply because of a lack of personal connection. This shocking trend can largely be attributed to many individuals not having access to a comprehensive Jewish education, or in some cases, being totally unaware of their Jewish heritage. The limited knowledge of Jewish traditions, Torah texts, cultural and historical legacy has contributed significantly to increased rates of assimilation in Jewish communities worldwide. While it is relatively easy to access Jewish content online, information alone doesn't create the meaningful engagement that inspires lasting generations of proud Jews. This disconnect isn't just about individuals, it threatens Jewish continuity for generations to come.
In today's world of screens, instant gratification, and constant digital connectivity, traditional approaches alone cannot fully meet the needs of our community. Without harnessing the power of modern technology, paired with personal mentorship, we face the risk of losing the next generation of Jewish families to disconnection and assimilation.
Through the power of the internet, JNet bridges distances to create meaningful Torah learning partnerships. The extensive capabilities of the internet, to provide platforms for online learning, with extensive tools and broad access to Jewish texts, opens doors that were shut for many until now. When we match motivated students with dedicated mentors who can relate Jewish wisdom to modern life, we create deep, lasting connections that extend far beyond the virtual classroom. This personalized approach sparks a chain reaction of Jewish engagement, often leading to active participation in local Jewish communities, regular synagogue attendance, and the establishment of Jewish homes.
By harnessing the internet's unprecedented reach and versatility, JNet is able to make authentic Jewish learning accessible to everyone, regardless of background, location or schedule. Our volunteers meet the students wherever they are and adapt to their individual needs. By leveraging technology we facilitate over 300,000 annual learning sessions, proving that meaningful Jewish education isn't limited by geography or time zones.
